Welcome to Cooperatives West Midlands
We are the regional body representing and supporting co-operatives across the West Midlands. We work to champion the values and principles of the co-operative movement - democracy, equality, and mutual support - across diverse sectors and communities.
Our aims and objectives are:
To raise the profile of the co-operative and mutual sector in the West Midlands
To represent the interests of co-operatives and mutuals
To encourage mutual support, inter-trading and networking
To share best practice, training and development opportunities between co-operatives and mutuals
To embed co-operatives and mutuals within the mainstream economy of the West Midlands
Whether it's a workers’ co-op, a community-owned business, or a consumer co-operative, we believe in the power of people working together for mutual benefit. We help existing co-operatives to thrive and support new co-operative ventures to grow. Together, we're building a stronger, more resilient region - one co-op at a time.
In November 2025, we were recognised in the Social Economy Drive awards for our 'Overall Contribution to the Social Economy', primarily for the pioneering work of the Save Birmingham Campaign. Thank you to the award organisers iSE and WMCA for this recognition!
